Visit to the Albufera Natural Park in Mallorca

One of the things on the to-do list when you visit Playa de Muro is the great natural park S'Albufera on Mallorca, one of the largest wetlands on the island where lovers of nature and birds can enjoy incredible bird watching the in the wild as well as see other species typical of this part of the Mediterranean. The park can be explored on foot or by bike and it is the perfect plan for those travelling with children, avoiding the mid-day heat in the summer months.

Near the Playa de Muro beach there are several horse ranches that organise beautiful equestrian excursions through different parts of northern Mallorca. One of them located in Can Picafort – some five minutes by car from our hotel Zafiro Bahía – where you will be taken through Mallorcan pine forests, along the sandy beach and even on a visit to the ancient necropolis Son Real, between Son Bauló beach and Son Serra de Marina beach.

Paella with sea views

If you want to enjoy Playa de Muro like the locals do, sign up for a paella at one of the many beach bars you find along the five kilometres of sand. Some of them are on the seafront promenade and others are located directly on the sand. Forget about your bikini plans for now and order a dessert, because several beach bars let you try traditional sweets such as filled ensaimada or the famous Lloseta cardenal.

Surf lessons in Playa de Muro

The waves that form in some parts of Playa de Muro are ideal if you want to get started with surfing, kitesurfing or windsurfing. There are several clubs in Mallorca that offer classes on the beach, or that let you choose between group lessons and individual lessons. If you prefer something calmer you can also try paddle surfing, especially in the early morning, or late afternoon, when the sea is calmer.

A day at the water park

If you are travelling to Playa de Muro with kids, this is the perfect plan: spend an entire day at the famous Hidropark in Alcúdia. They will be so happy! Wave pool, dozens of huge, multi-coloured slides, a specific area with games and pools for the smallest ones, relax areas so you can take it easy in the sun yourself, and even a miniature golf course.
