Mallorca & Menorca Guide

Santa Ponsa is a popular tourist village in the municipality of Calvià in the southwest coast of Mallorca

The climate of Santa Ponsa is what makes it the perfect place to enjoy a holiday in Mallorca. Its numerous beaches, marina and atmosphere attracts hundreds of tourists every year. The hillside location means that it has a very dry climate with hot summers and mild winters which is why the terraces, restaurants, the promenade and the shops are full of life and thriving throughout the year. As with most of the other parts of the island Santa Ponsa enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, this climate has two very different seasons, on the one hand May to September the weather is hot and dry with an average temperature of 27ºC, with August being the hottest month.

And the other hand the winters are very mild seeing a lot more sunshine than most north Europe countries. From October to April the average temperature is 13° C. normally the coolest month is January but there is still 6-7 hours of sunshine! January though can be the wettest month as rain is most likely to fall during this month but remember rainy days in Mallorca only account for 51 days of the year so that means there are 314 days to enjoy the sunshine in Mallorca!

Summers days of sun, beach and time out

Summers are typically hot and dry with plenty of sunshine.  This is the time of spectacular sunsets when the sun slowly disappears behind the water on the horizon. Here at Zafiro Hotels, we would highly recommend watching the sunset from a pretty terrace or from the beach itself, remember Santa Ponsa has 34 beaches dotted along its 54 km of coastline. If you are planning a holiday to enjoy a few days of beach and sunshine, to disconnect from the daily routine and make every minute of your holiday count then Santa Ponsa is the perfect destination for family holidays, for couples or quick getaways with friends.

In Santa Ponsa you will find beaches with all the amenities of an urban beach, activities, bars, terraces, sunbeds and  umbrellas

So that you and your family can enjoy a day at the beach with fun for the whole family. But if you prefer the virgin beaches which are just as nature created them where you can chill and relax without the usual crowds of the busy beaches you won´t be disappointed because Santa Ponsa has several idyllic coves that are worth going to visit for the day.

Mild and pleasant winters in Santa Ponsa

Temperatures during the winter in Santa Ponsa are mild which makes this town a perfect tourist destination both in summer and in winter. But during the winter is when you can enjoy a holiday without the summer crowds, in October, March and April there is plenty of warm sunshine so you can still enjoy a day on the beach, walks along the shore line and sunny terraces. The mild winter climate means that absence of the huge summer crowds which allows for a completely different experience in Santa Ponsa, this is when you can go to visit a cove and find yourselves the only ones there. Bliss!

The cooler winter months are excellent for discovering the area, doing some walking or other outdoor activities, it’s also the ideal time to discover the very quaint villages of inland Mallorca.

In winter, you will find Mallorca a very different place, it moves at a slower pace, there is less noise, its very green, and if you come in January you will see the foot of Sierra de Tramuntana dotted with pink and white from the blossoming almond trees.

If you are traveling to Santa Ponsa we would like to recommend our  hotel Zafiro Rey don Jaime in Santa Ponsa the perfect hotel for a holiday with family or as a couple.
