Markets in Mallorca and Menorca

  • Organic market in Palma with a choice of local products: Tuesday and Saturday from 8am to 2pm in the Plaza de los Patines. 
  • Santa Ponsa: Every day from 7pm to midnight on the Gran Via Puig de Galatzó in Santa Ponsa. 
  • Palmanova: Every day from 7pm to midnight on the Paseo del Mar in Palmanova.
  • Summer night market in Puerto de Alcudia (June-September): In summer from Wednesday to Saturday from 6pm to 10pm on the seafront promenade in Puerto de Alcudia.
  • Farmers’ market in Ciutadella: Wednesday and Saturday from 8am to 2pm in the Plaza de la Libertad.
  • Craft market in Ciutadella with products made by master craftspeople: From July 1 to September 14, Monday and Friday from 7pm to midnight in the Plaza d'es Also on Wednesday in July and August.  

Weekly markets

  • Palma: Mercado de l'Olivar from Monday to Friday from 7am to 2:30pm and Saturday from 7am to 3pm
  • Muro: Sunday from 8am to 1pm in the Plaza Compte d'Empúries
  • Alcúdia: Tuesday and Sunday from 9am to 1:30pm in the historic centre of Alcúdia
  • Valldemossa: Sunday from 8am to 1pm in the car park of the Tourist Office
  • Sóller: Saturday from 8am to 1pm in the Plaza del Mercat
  • Ciutadella: Monday and Friday from 8:30am to 3pm in summer at the Plaça des Born

Sports events 

IRONMAN 70.3 Mallorca: Come and enjoy the 14th edition of the annual Zafiro IRONMAN 70.3 Alcudia-Mallorca on May 10, one of the top triathlon events on the European circuit.  

Mallorca 312: The event of the year for cycling fans is fast approaching. The successful Mallorca 312 event will be held once again this year on April 26, presenting a chance to discover the entire island.  

Palma Marathon: Sign up for one of the categories at the Palma Marathon (marathon, half marathon or 10km) and enjoy a beautiful course that passes through some of the most iconic locations in the city: the Palma Bay seafront promenade, the area around the cathedral, the historic centre... 

Megamarsch Mallorca: Have you heard of the Megamarsch? This 12-hour, 50-kilometre hike takes place in Alcudia on February 22 and visits some of the most spectacular locations in Mallorca.

Traditional festivals and food festivals

La Mostra: Mostra Calvià is a food festival hosted in restaurants throughout the area in April to promote quality local cuisine. 

Nautical trade show and cuttlefish food festival in Puerto de Alcudia: Anybody who loves sailing or cuttlefish is in for a treat at this 3-day event held on the seafront in Puerto de Alcudia, offering a chance to sample fantastic dishes and tapas made by the best local chefs.

Sant Joan Festival in Ciutadella: Menorca's most iconic festival is home to a great choice of cultural activities and parties accompanied by music, dance and fantastic traditional cuisine. One of the biggest attractions are the bonfires and shows that feature horses and riders dressed in elegant traditional costumes.  

Botifarró festival in Sant Joan: Toasted rustic bread and traditional local “botifarró” sausages take centre stage at this event in Sant Joan. The festival includes music, dance and a choice of recreational activities for all ages.  

Fresh fish weekend and “llampuga” food festival: culinary events for sampling fresh Mallorcan fish, including a tapas night, tastings of dishes prepared with the fish known locally as “llampuga”, music, dance and much more.  

Museums

Pilar i Joan Miró Foundation Mallorca: This foundation gives you the chance to discover the art and works of Joan Miró and his creative process in the place where he lived and worked for almost 30 years.  

Es Baluard Museum: Located on top of the ancient defensive wall around Palma, it is one of the largest and most iconic museums in Mallorca. It features more than 500 works of modern and contemporary art by renowned local and international artists.  

Andratx Contemporary Art Centre: The Andratx Contemporary Art Centre has been creating and exhibiting modern art for more than twenty years. 3 or 4 international exhibitions are organised every year, showcasing challenging art projects and experiments. 

Menorca Museum: The Menorca Museum explains the history and customs of the island to both Menorcan residents and holidaymakers.

  • Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm 

> from June to September: 

  • Closed Monday 
  • From Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 2pm / 6pm to 8pm 
  • Sundays and holidays: From 10am to 2pm 

Can Saura: Located in the old quarter in Ciutadella, Can Saura is home to the city's Municipal Museum and explains the history of Ciutadella and some of its peculiarities.  

Iconic locations

Arab Baths in Palma: The Arab Baths are one of the most important monuments in Palma and one of the few examples of Muslim architecture that remain in the Balearic capital. They date from the 11th century and were probably part of the palace of a Muslim nobleman.  

Yannick and Ben Jakober Sculpture Park (Sa Bassa Blanca Museum): A perfect combination of art, architecture and nature. The foundation has a “zoo” comprising large granite works located in the gardens surrounding the museum. It consists of animals inspired by archaeological pieces that are located in various museums around the world.  

Naveta de Tudons: this is a kind of tomb used for collective burials and the best-known prehistoric monument in the Balearic Islands. The Naveta de Tudons can only be found in Menorca.
