Have you not heard about what’s happening in Palma on October 14? Mallorca is hosting a new edition of the island’s most important marathon and Zafiro Hotels is the main event sponsor. For several years the marathon has been a highlight on the sporting calendar in Mallorca for both runners and visitors. The last edition attracted 10,000 runners from 45 different countries who competed in three different categories on the Sunday (marathon, half marathon and 10km) plus the Palma Kids Run, which this year will be held on Saturday, October 13. Last year, the Mallorcan Tòfol Castanyer won the men’s race in a time of 2h 31:19, while the women’s race was won by Rosaura Casado from Madrid in 2h 57:13. I wonder what the times will be like this year?

The route takes runners past the most attractive locations in the city, including the historic centre, seafront promenade, port of Palma and the spectacular Cathedral. The route is actually one of the main attractions of the marathon, with the start and finish lines both in Palma Bay. This year the event also coincides with the October bank holiday, so you can enjoy a few more days of relaxation.
