The corporate director of HR, Elena Alzamora, led this transition to the digital world. It was successfully completed in less than a year and is part of a strong commitment to improving communication, working conditions and the continuous training of all the chain's employees.
"This kind of process takes a lot of work since it involves a great cultural change within the company", says Alzamora, grateful for the ownership's confidence in the project and the "effort put in by the entire team of women who make up the department. I am really proud."
Value experience
Understanding what digitalisation of the Human Resources department means in practice and how important it is for the business machinery is more complex than it might seem. Alzamora sees it clearly: "our client is the employee".
That is why the objective of this change has been the introduction of a system that simplifies procedures and assists safe and fast document management, encouraging direct communication with the company from any place and any device. Because "without the commitment of each and every staff member it is impossible to offer good service to our guests".
Elena Alzamora knows this and has managed to direct the transition with the support of her entire team – a team that has gone from being a purely administrative department to becoming the department that is in charge of the employee value experience.
During these 12 months, "all processes have been digitalised", as explained by Elena Alzamora herself who likes to talk about a "holistic digitalisation", since they have tried to cover and improve each and every area and functionality pertaining to this department – currently managing more than 2,000 employees on Mallorca.
Zafiro Hotels employee portal
Thanks to the renewal and digitalization process, Zafiro Hotels now has a complete Employee Portal that facilitates documentation management within the department as well as chain employees’ own documentation.
With the new digital system, it is impossible to lose a document, all processes are safe, transparent and immediate, and every employee can have their documentation at hand whenever they need, finding the necessary information with a few clicks. They have also created an automatic archive for all documentation in digital files, a training classroom and an online job bank.
Alzamora emphasises that all of this has been made bearing in mind how important this transformation is on the road to greater sustainability, since paper consumption has been dramatically reduced since its implementation.
