Thanks to its commitment to fight against climate change, Zafiro Hotels has been registered in the Carbon Footprint Register, an environmental control instrument developed by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. The purpose of the register is to contribute to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
In this first measurement phase, which has lasted for a year, the brand has managed to reach the 'CALCULATION' Carbon Footprint Seal thanks to transparent and thorough information on emissions generated by the company and its assets.
Now the second phase begins, in which the brand will focus on reducing its emissions and look for a durable balance between protecting the environment and offering the best possible experience to all its guests.
Once this second phase has finished, Zafiro Hotel will be awarded the 'REDUCE' Seal, proving that all actions and improvements carried out throughout the company during these years have been successful, with a clear, measurable, and positive effect for the environment, both the immediate environment and planet’s environment as a whole.
The third and final step will be achieving the 'COMPENSATION' Seal, certifying that Zafiro Hotels has reached its maximum emission reduction point, and that it is a brand firmly committed to emission compensation that will move the company towards neutralisation of its carbon footprint.
A brand commitment
Zafiro Hotels as a company is currently developing plans that include fighting against change and preserving our environment. As a result, the brand has implemented an entire action package aimed not only at reducing its emissions, but also at better waste management and contributing to the protection of ecosystems near its establishments.
Measures such as a progressive implementation of renewable energies, ecological cooling in all kitchens and computerisation and robotisation of hotel systems have already allowed Zafiro Hotels to obtain the ISO 14064-3:2019 certification, which demonstrates its clear commitment to a sustainable tourism model, reducing emissions as well as its impact on the environment.
