Sunset from Palma, magical places you will remember
To see the best sunset in Palma, you have an entire coastline around the bay that provides you with an exceptional setting. Within the bay, there are three especially incredible areas. The first one is Portitxol, the small port in the southern part of the city, very near the centre and only a ten minutes' walk from the Cathedral of Mallorca.
The second location is the famous Playa de Palma, a more touristy area filled with bars and restaurants that provide outdoor seating where you can enjoy a magnificent Mallorcan sunset over the western end of the mountain range Serra de Tramuntana.
The third option is the most spectacular, favoured by the locals: the area Maioris and the delta in the municipality of Llucmajor. This oasis of calm bids you natural and practically unspoilt surroundings, where rocks and Mediterranean vegetation offer a unique range of colours at sunset.
Sunset in Andratx, enjoy the best views
The municipality of Andratx is more than just one of the most exclusive locations on the island, it’s also an excellent choice when contemplating where to go to enjoy a Mallorcan sunset. This area features a number of places to go to bid the sun farewell. One of the most famous settings is Puerto de Andratx, where you can enjoy an unforgettable sunset as well as an exquisite atmosphere on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
Near Puerto de Andratx there is another unique place where you can go to watch the sun setting over Mallorca: the viewpoint by the La Mola lighthouse. Located some eight kilometres from our hotel Zafiro Palace Andratx, this viewpoint and its surroundings offer spectacular views of the sea towards the west, letting you enjoy the descending sun without anything blocking the view.
Our third favourite place to watch the sunset in Andratx is the Cap Andritxol tower. From Camp de Mar there is a very easy hiking route to the tower, suitable even for children, and the prize you are awarded with once you arrive there is one of the best views the west coast of Mallorca has to offer.
The best sunset from Calvià
If you are staying in the Paguera, Santa Ponsa or Palmanova area, don't miss watching the sunset from the viewpoint called Malgrats Islands. Here, nature opens up on top of a large cliff located just in front of the small islets known as the Malgrats Islands. You can easily park nearby, and if you're staying at one of our hotels in Palmanova it's only nine kilometres away.
Watching the sunset from the Serra de Tramuntana mountains
The Serra de Tramuntana range and its picturesque villages are a must, not only because of their natural beauty and traditional charm, but also because if you take this opportunity to travel the mountain road hugging the coast from Estellencs to Deià you'll be able to see one of the most amazing sunsets in the world. We're not exaggerating. The ideal place to stop and the typical photo to take is the well-known Sa Foradada: an exceptional viewpoint overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in the middle of the mountains.
