Outdoor sports in Mallorca
Mallorca is the perfect destination for outdoor sports. Every year the island receives hundreds of cyclists, both amateurs and professionals alike, who come to take advantage of the island's climate and the wonderful routes it offers, to spend the cycling season in Mallorca. Nautical sports have been gaining prominence on the island in recent years. If you like hiking or trekking then there are lots of fantastic hiking trails through the interior of the island and in the stunning Sierra de Traumuntana. However, if your idea of relaxation is walking around taking in the sights then take a few trips to towns like Felanitx, port de Sóller, Valldemossa and many other such spectacular towns that you cannot afford to miss if you are coming on holiday to Mallorca. During the summer, these villages and ports are full of life, with their terraces and restaurants full of people enjoying the exquisite Mallorcan cuisine. So, if you decide to do an excursion then take the opportunity to eat in one of the local restaurants or simply admire the view whilst sitting in one of the many terraces that you will find in the ports like the Soller or Alcudia.
Shopping and local crafts
Strolling along the streets or in squares filled with souvenir shops or markets in Mallorca is great during the summer evenings or on cooler days. In the capital, Palma de Mallorca, you will find all types of places to shop from shopping malls to waterfront walks, such as the Paseo de Born, where you will find the all the famous brands and the best-known stores. In the towns and ports of Mallorca you can find some lovely local Mallorcan shops where you can buy everything from clothing to footwear in the purest island style, to souvenirs of your holidays in Mallorca. Of course, if you are lucky that your holiday on the island coincides with one of the craft markets, do not hesitate to go and see all the stalls filled with handmade articles and products from Mallorca. These craft markets are wonderful places to find a lovely unique gift for a friend or just to take home as a souvenir.
Watching the sunset in Deià
If there is one thing that you simply must do whilst on holiday in Mallorca it is watching the sunset from one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Mallorca, the viewpoint of Deià, Sa Foradada. From here you can reflect on the magical way the sun disappears over the waters on the horizon, you can also have quiet drink from the snack bar. Of course, you don´t have go all the way to Deia, although it is well worth the trip, you can watch the sunset from any beach or cove on the island for example, in Portixol, it is quite common to see people on the beach waiting to see sunset.
