Menorcan cuisine: a culinary oasis
Menorcan cuisine reflects the essence of the sea and a genuine passion for the land and the countryside. Humble in its origins, Menorcan cuisine is a tasty combination of seafood and fish dishes and traditional flavours.
We bow down before the lobster, the most important ingredient in the most famous Menorcan dish: the caldereta fish stew. You must not leave without having tried it!
If you have a chance, you should also try typical local dishes such as the oliaigua, a peculiar soup prepared throughout the year with whatever vegetables are in season and whatever other ingredients occur to the chef, the partridge stew with cabbage, and Menorcan perol or arroz de la tierra rice dish, one of the oldest and most traditional dishes on the island. And if you love desserts, you are also in luck! Restaurants and patisseries offer a wide range of biscuits, cakes and pastries such as pastissets, amargos, crespells, cuscussós, potato greixeras, cocas…
Ah! And don't forget to take home with you a good chunk of Mahon cheese. A delicious treat!
Paradise for hikers
Menorca is an island that offers endless possibilities for hikers far removed from the standard sun and beach tourism. Whether you like walking along the coast or in the interior, Menorca has whatever you’re looking for. It also has no huge heights or slopes, with the highest point in the centre of the island at El Toro, a mountain measuring about 350 metres in height.
The most famous and popular route in Menorca is the Camí de Cavalls. There are 20 different routes you can take along the Camí to discover the more than 180 km of island coastline.
You can make a tour of inland roads and others pathways that end in beautiful beaches, caves or castles. Discover them all!

Scenery and dream beaches in Menorca
Menorca is also very much loved and appreciated for its well-preserved landscape and pristine beaches. That is why the island was declared a Biosphere Reserve, and we hope it will remain this way for a long time to come.
Wear good shoes, take plenty of water, a good camera and, if possible, good company to share each of the sights and surprises offered by the island. And then just let yourself go!
If you want to enjoy a really unique experience, we suggest you try to see the stunning sunrise from Es Castell, a small but beautiful coastal town. This will give you the chance to take a photo of an awesome view of the "first dawn" in Spain.
