Autumn holidays
Since the climate is agreeable and the water temperature of the Mediterranean Sea still ideal for leisurely dips, an autumn break on Mallorca is something that travellers from all over Europe are enjoying more and more. Hotel offers in autumn are another incentive, because the high season officially ends in August. Also, the various activities on offer on the island multiply at this time of year, as the capital returns to its usual routine after the summer.
What to do on Mallorca in autumn
If you are thinking of taking a couple of days off and escaping to the Med, then take a look at this list we have compiled for you, featuring the best plans for your autumn visit to Mallorca.
- Hikes in the Tramuntana
One of the most spectacular places on the island in autumn is the mountain range Serra de Tramuntana. This time of year the leaves are changing colour, the air carries a scent of wet earth and the sunsets are more beautiful than ever. Scheduling hikes along the mountain routes in this area is one of the best plans you can make. The route La Pedra en Sec (GR221) – also known as Camí de l'Arxiduc – and the route La Trapa are both near our new 5-star hotel Zafiro Palace Andratx.
- Craft fairs on Mallorca
Autumn is the ideal time to taste the local products of Mallorca. From September to November there are fairs and markets full of flavour, such as the Sweet Fair in Esporlas, one of the great classics of Mallorcan autumn. Also happening this year is the first edition of the Balearic Craft Beer Fair on Mallorca, during which the VI edition of the International Craft Beer Competition will be held at our very own Zafiro Can Picafort.
- Zafiro Palma Marathon
The mild autumn temperatures also bring with them some of the most anticipated sports events of the year, such as the Zafiro Palma Marathon. After its break in 2020 it’s back in the Balearic capital stronger than ever, with hundreds of participants lining up on the 10th of October – the same weekend as the Day of the Virgin Pilar.
- Art in Palma
The art season has also just opened, meaning that Palma's art galleries become a meeting point for art lovers. New collections from national and international artists, and the lively atmosphere that the city recreates after the hiatus of summer bid you a warm welcome. Amble along the narrow streets of Palma and immerse yourself in the beauty of its museums and exhibitions!
- Routes for tourism by bike
To finish off this list of the top five things to do on Mallorca in autumn, we have chosen tourism by bike. This is a great idea for those who travel in a group as well as for those travelling on their own or as a family: enjoy the winding Mallorcan roads. The island offers hundreds of kilometres where you can roll safely, enjoying the exceptional landscape.
