Playa de Alcudia
Located on the coast of Alcudia - hailed as one of Spain’s most picturesque towns and the former capital of the island - this beach is the longest in Mallorca. A beautiful stretch of sand shapes the bay, framed by rocky cliffs, calm turquoise waters and magnificent Mediterranean pine groves lining the entire coastline.
With more than 3 kilometres of fine white sand, in winter it’s the perfect place for taking long walks or jogging. Or you could play some beach volleyball, do yoga or just relax and admire all the splendour of the Mediterranean.
Allowing yourself to be embraced by the calm first thing in the morning or as the sun sets is an almost magical experience, hypnotic even. Perfect for meditation accompanied by the gentle murmur of the sea in the background.
The natural beauty, clean sea and extensive services have made it a top choice in Europe for families, as well as one of the destinations most popular among triathletes. Alcudia Beach is the starting and finishing point for one of the best IRONMAN events on the European circuit: the Zafiro IRONMAN 70.3 Alcudia-Mallorca, held every year in May.
- The perfect plan
Walk the entire length of Alcudia Beach until you get to Playa de Muro. Savour the stunning views, the relaxed vibe, and all the diversity of the north coast of Mallorca. Enjoy panoramic views of the bay and the peaceful and wild natural environment.
End the day with a hot drink at one of the many cafés along the Paseo Marítimo seafront promenade or with some tasty fresh fish in Port d'Alcudia.

If you don’t mind getting up early, don't miss the beauty and pleasure of enjoying the day’s first rays of sunshine on the beach. Head to the iconic wooden piers that jut out into the sea to get the perfect viewpoint for a magnificent photo. All with the beautiful bay as a stunning backdrop. On a clear day, you can even see Menorca from the beach as the sun rises!
Zafiro Hotels is lucky to be able to offer two hotels that are just a few steps away from this wonderful sight: Zafiro Tropic and Zafiro Palace Alcudia, both open in winter.
Playa de Muro
One of the best-preserved and most beautiful natural environments in Mallorca. The perfect location for keen photographers or anyone who has ever dreamed of visiting long beaches with white sand and a turquoise-blue sea.
Located in the heart of Alcudia Bay and bordered by a long stretch of unspoilt sand dunes, it has been recognised by numerous international publications as one of the best beaches in Mallorca, Europe and the world.
The peacefulness that reigns supreme in winter in Playa de Muro makes it the perfect place to enjoy paradise while getting away from the daily grind and finding a space to enjoy some “me time”. Accompanied by nature, take a walk barefoot along the long stretch of soft, white sand or try your hand at exciting water sports such as surfing or kitesurfing.
Take a seat and just admire the view and the horizon, dotted with colourful kites racing across the waves at full speed, doing jumps and pirouettes that will never cease to amaze you.
- The perfect plan
Start the day early to get a chance to see a sunrise that fills the sky with a myriad of colours. Although winter temperatures are very mild, we do recommend you bring a blanket and a hot drink so you can enjoy this beautiful sight in total comfort from the shore.
We then recommend a visit to the S'Albufera Nature Reserve to walk its trails and discover all the secrets of the largest wetland on the island. Don't forget to bring your binoculars! The reserve is a huge attraction for bird and nature lovers, home to numerous native flora and fauna species that can only be found here.
Es Coll Baix
A secret cove for the most intrepid visitors. Also located on the north coast near Alcudia, this is one of the least visited natural treasures in Mallorca as it’s not that easy to get to. The only way to visit is by boat or by hiking along a rocky trail.
In winter it’s a secluded and private paradise surrounded by cliffs, native plants and spectacular views. There are no buildings or facilities, making it a great example of what Mallorca was like in the 1940s, when there were hardly any houses along the whole of this coast, save for the town and port of Alcúdia.
The wild natural environment is also accompanied by a halo of mystery that makes it even more special. In older times, its remote location and the natural caves that dot the coast made it the perfect refuge for smugglers.
It has also always been closely linked with the traditional fishing methods that form part of the lesser-known Mallorca.

You can get to it by land walking for half an hour along a rocky path, so it’s important you wear appropriate shoes and bring water and food for the journey. We do not recommend visiting with children or for elderly people who are not in the best of shape.
- The perfect plan
In addition to enjoying the cove itself, the area is home to beautiful hiking trails which begin and end at a number of different locations, most with spectacular views of the northern coast, the cliffs, crystal-clear waters and beautiful nature.
Don't forget to visit the Sa Bassa Blanca Museum near Alcudia to view and admire the extensive collection of modern art, a surprising sculpture park full of fantasy animals, and the famous rose garden.
Playa de Formentor
This iconic beach has been a source of inspiration and a creative refuge on the island for numerous famous artists and authors, including Mario Benedetti, Robert Graves and George Sand, among others. A magical enclave where time seems to stand still, inspiring moments of reflection and high emotion.
Although it’s a beautiful place to visit at any time of year, it’s in winter when it exudes even great beauty and serenity. Located at the northern tip of the island, it combines the beauty of the Mediterranean and pine groves with the spectacular Sierra de Tramuntana mountains, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A spectacular contrast, with the sparkling sea on one side and the imposing mountains on the other, guaranteeing a haven of peace in the most extraordinary setting.
From January to well into April, the coastline is born again, as it slowly turns bright green and recovers elements of a certain mysticism, especially when accompanied by morning fog or a low sun. As the colours begin to get brighter, the contrast and the beauty of the scenery becomes even more pronounced.
- The perfect plan
Winter is the best time to explore the area around the beach on foot or by bike. If you’re up to the task, take a trip up to the Es Colomer viewpoint and Cape Formentor, which are also great areas for bird watching. In winter you can also visit the iconic Cape Formentor by car, as there are no restrictions in place like there are in the summer.
Make sure your mobile phone battery is fully charged so you can get hundreds of great photos of unforgettable views, diverse natural environments, and all the serenity of northern Mallorca. Sunset has to be one of the most magical moments you could ever experience.

If you’re an art lover or have a more creative spirit, this is the beach for you. Sit down alone on the sand to read a book, maybe write or draw, listen to the murmur of the waves and enjoy the beautiful scenery without any noise or distractions.
Playa de Sant Joan y Sant Pere
These lovely beaches are located in the picturesque village of Mal Pas, very near Port de Alcudia, overlooking Pollensa Bay. They are both havens of peace and the most genuine essence of Mallorca.
With a coastline dotted with small fishing vessels and traditional Mallorcan boats known as llaüts, they invite you to immerse yourself in a fishing-village tale. With pine trees and small houses on the shore that connect narrow seafront promenades, the atmosphere is delightful and very different.
These beaches are perfect for meditation and relaxation alongside the sea, with activities such as yoga or mindfulness. But they are also ideal for discovering the Mallorca of the past.
- The perfect plan
These beaches provide access to routes with panoramic views over the La Victoria Peninsula, between Alcudia and Pollença bays in the north of Mallorca. This is an area full of small rocky coves that look like natural pools, and in winter there is a sensation of peace that is difficult to find at any other time of year.
Make the most of this chance to have a drink in Puerto Cocodrilo and a delicious meal packed with Mediterranean flavours at the S'Illot Restaurant. All with extraordinary views of Pollença Bay and lush vegetation as a backdrop.
Cala Varques
This stunning retreat in the east of Mallorca is one of island’s trendiest coves, and in winter it transforms into something truly magical, a secluded and serene haven which is often almost deserted.
Perfect for anyone seeking a hidden and quiet spot to embrace an authentic Mediterranean experience. It’s also an ideal destination for fans of climbing and caving, as it’s surrounded by caves and cliffs. And there are also fields where cows graze and sometimes even come down to enjoy the beach.
A simple stroll along the beach becomes a real delight for all the senses, with waters that are even clearer and calmer than in summer, and where the only sound you hear is the murmur of the waves.
- The perfect plan
Discover the Pirate Cave or the Coloms Cave, one of the most amazing underwater caves in Europe. A stunning place to visit in winter, when it becomes an almost private refuge.
The views of the stalactites and stalagmites are even more impressive at this time of year, as the light goes down and the environment takes on an amazing stillness. You don't need to be an expert swimmer, but you do need to be in fairly good physical condition. You can also dive under the supervision of expert local guides.
- Recommendations
You can get there by car, parking on the Ma-4014 road from Porto Cristo to Portocolom. From your parking spot you then have to walk about 20 minutes. It’s worth it. Really worth it!
Es Trenc
Known as the “European Caribbean”, it’s one of Mallorca’s most iconic beaches all year round. In winter, it becomes a truly breathtaking spectacle. Located near Campos in the south of Mallorca, it’s renowned for its white sand, crystal-clear waters and over 2 kilometres of unspoilt beauty. Its sunsets are among the most stunning on the entire island, with fantastic clear views across the Mediterranean horizon.
This beach forms part of a protected natural area, with sand dunes and wetlands that are home to a wide variety of bird species. At this time of year, free from any crowds, Es Trenc reveals its purest and most serene side. It’s the perfect setting for a long walk, with the waves breaking gently at your feet and the sea as your sole companion.
- The perfect plan
Visit the https://www.zafirohotels.com/bezafiro/descubre-la-reserva-natural-de-mallorca/salt flats of Ses Salines, very near the beach, which in winter is an even more mesmerising experience. Visit the small shop nearby to buy salt and take home a little piece of Mallorca. A nice, natural, authentic and very tasty souvenir!
- Recommendation
Stay to witness the sunset, when the sun’s reflection on the salt flats and the sea creates a breathtaking palette of golden, pink and orange hues. Watch as migratory birds such as flamingos and white storks gracefully pause to rest in its calm waters.
