Even if the pandemic has isolated people around the planet lately, Mallorca is still one of the safest places you can travel to in Europe. There are numerous reasons for this, and we list them below. Enjoy your holiday in peace and quiet, with maximum safety – even in these turbulent times we’re experiencing.

The advantage of being an island
It’s a lot easier to control the pandemic on an island, even at the worst of times. Since our island can only be accessed by air or by sea, the entry controls to Mallorca are a lot more efficient than those at other destinations that can be reached by road, and where it’s practically impossible to demand tests from all travellers, or to test all those who enter and leave the territory.
A 5-star airport
According to the results of the study COVID-19 Safety Ratings, carried out by the international consultancy Skytrax, the airport in Palma de Mallorca is one of 15 airports from all over the world that has been awarded the maximum score – 5 stars – when it comes to security measures against the coronavirus. It’s also one of the airports with the best international connections, especially for the German and British markets, and one of the highest-scoring airports when asking passengers about services available.
Secure hotels
Even if it's still impossible to guarantee a 100% COVID-free space, what can be guaranteed is that all hotels on Mallorca – through cooperation with regional and national authorities – have spent a lot of time, money and human effort creating secure spaces where travellers can feel safe and at ease.
When it comes to Zafiro Hotels, we spent all last year as well as this year making sure that we work with a comprehensive program of special cleaning and disinfection measures, checks, security and hygiene to combat COVID. This means we can offer all our guests a unique place where they can rest in a safe environment.
Covering national as well as international guests
Added to this is the implementation of our Relax & Care program, our free travel insurance that we offer all guests who book through our website. This insurance guarantees health cover during your stay on Mallorca in case of illness, covers cancellation fees for some non-refundable rates, extensions of stays for medical reasons, and reimbursement if the holidays can't be enjoyed in full.
Along the same lines as our Relax & Care insurance, the Tourism Strategy Agency of the Balearic Island offers all national and international travellers who are not residents a special COVID insurance, which guarantees that those who travel to the islands during 2021 can do so safely and with maximum peace of mind.
Requirements when travelling to Mallorca
To minimise the risk of the virus spreading uncontrollably, or that new variants are introduced, a whole series of access requirements have been put in place for those travelling to Mallorca. This is a guarantee for both residents and visitors. One of the requirements is that you must present a negative antigen test or PCR, performed at the point of origin, at the gate or at the airport.
You can also take the test when arriving to Mallorca, at one of the clinics or private health centres on the island. The price of these tests ranges between 75–98 euro for a PCR and 45 euro for the rapid antigen test.
At Zafiro Hotels we want to make it easier for our guests, and we have made sure that it’s possible to carry out these COVID tests on Mallorca without having to leave the hotel. We offer a rapid antigen and PCR test service at the hotel at a reduced cost, per stay. These tests are also valid for all travellers who are required to show a negative test in order to return to their country of residence.
Who is exempt from presenting a test when travelling to Mallorca?
People with an EU COVID passport (showing their completed vaccination schedule), those who can prove that they've had the disease in the six months prior to the trip, and children under five years of age do not have to present any proof to enter Mallorca.
If you’re thinking of travelling to Mallorca in 2021, don't forget to check the official page with information on COVID regulations from the Balearic Government, where you will find all the restrictions and regulations approved by the Spanish authorities that affect national and international travellers who wish to enter this territory. If you have any questions regarding any of the services offered by Zafiro Hotels, please don't hesitate to get in touch with your hotel.
