Staying home doesn't mean giving up our training programme or workout routine. We encourage you to keep your body and mind in shape without having to leave home.
As you already know, at Zafiro Hotels we have a passion for sport. In today's post we would like to encourage you to keep your body and mind in great condition without even having to leave home. You can do these things on your own or with other people, and it might be even better fun to share a virtual workout with friends in their homes. Don’t forget that sport helps keep you healthy, makes you feel and sleep better and, above all, helps our body to generate more endorphins which help improve our mood.
Here are some suggestions so you can choose the one that’s best for you and make sure you stay in shape!

Stretching basics
Whether you are someone who just watches sports on TV and doesn’t regularly do any sport or a regular visitor to the gym or a big running fan, stretching is an essential part of any fitness regime, and even more so when our mobility and physical activity are reduced due to the fact that we have to stay at home.
Around 20 minutes a day is generally enough, helping relieve your joints and avoid muscular tension. It is important that you combine stretching with a focus on your breathing, as this helps improve the connection between the body and the mind and leads to better results.
Successful Pilates
Now you have the perfect chance to spend some time toning up your body! All you need are comfortable clothes and a mat. There are numerous Pilates videos online, so just choose the one that best suits your level and make sure the class is being led by professionals who really know what they’re doing.
One of the most important things about Pilates is to combine a focus on your breathing with every exercise you do. And that requires concentration. We therefore recommend you choose a quiet part of your house and put on some background music to help make you more relaxed.
The exercises mainly focus on the lower back and abdomen. If you’re a beginner, take it easy to start with and follow the instructions so you avoid any injuries.
Training for the fittest
If you don’t want to miss out on your workout and you’re also one of those people that works their muscles really hard, you can still get in some great exercise at home. Make sure you always remember to start with a little warm-up to get your heart beat started. Here are a few suggestions:
Like fitness dancing? Go for it! It is good for both your muscles and joints, and helps you get rid of all the adrenaline you’ve been building up while also having loads of fun.
If you enjoy LBT workouts, you can also easily do this at home combining squats, lunges or sit-ups, for example. And remember that it’s better to do one session every day rather than a lot of repetitions on one single day. Another important thing is to combine cardiovascular and strength exercises, so make sure you include press-ups and sit-ups in your routine. And at the end of the sessions, don’t forget to have a good stretch to help relax your muscles.
Yoga for the whole family
If you have never done any yoga, now might be a good time to start. If you have kids, it’s a great chance to have fun in a very different and creative way.
Get comfortable, choose a quiet room, leave the phone in another room (very important), play soft music. You just need a mat, a bottle of water nearby and you're ready to go.
If you’re a beginner, it’s probably best if you choose an online class. If you’re already an expert and want to continue doing yoga without your teacher, best start with a short and simple routine - like a sun salutation A or B - to help you memorise it and continue to practice it.
There are numerous training classes with professional teachers online, so you’ve got no excuse not to spend a little time every day to keep your body and mind healthy.
At Zafiro Hotels we will continue to accompany you from our blog by offering activities for all ages and all tastes. We hope to see you very soon, and in the meantime, we hope you feel good, stay fit and be very happy!
